Tip # 10: Roots and Rocks, Rock

When you are out grooming a trail and installing drains, try to leave existing roots and imbedded rocks as they help anchor the trail bed. Only consider removing them if the pose a safety problem or if they impede the flow of water out of a drain.

For a great series of documents about trail building and maintenance, check out the IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) site. www.imba.com/resources/trail_building/index.html
