Special Workday, April 15th, Free T-Shirt
March 19, 2006
We've got a big workday planned for April in a new Park: Natural Bridges/Antonelli Ponds. Trailworkers.com, The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, and Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks are all teaming up for a huge workday on Saturday, April 15th, from 1-4PM.
Spring is in the air, Earth Day is near, and Trailworkers and some of our partners wanted to try our hands working in a new park (new for us, anyhow). So, we are collaborating to sponsor a one-time workday in BOTH Natural Bridges and Antonelli Ponds. We'll be working with State Parks in Natural Bridges, and the Land Trust in Antonelli Ponds to eradicate hemlock and care for the trails. As these parks are side by side, it makes sense to tackle them together.
We'll meet at the Delaware St. entrance to Natural Bridges, and divide up into work parties for each park. We will meet at 1PM, and work 'till 4. Val Cole of Trailworkers.com will be coordinating and leading this workday (vcole@mac.com), should you have any questions. Bring the usual gear: long pants, gloves, a hat, and water.
April 15th will be a very special day in Santa Cruz State Parks -- the unveiling of a new program called "That's My Park" which aims to help the public learn more about our Santa Cruz State Parks, enjoy them, and give back. Our volunteer work is the "give back" part.
As a special thank you to all our volunteers, the first 50 people who sign-up for the workday in advance on our website, and show-up to work, will receive a special "That's My Park" t-shirt designed by renown poster artist Michael Schwab. These shirts are VERY cool looking. Also, all volunteers will be invited to a "That's My Park" celebration at the Natural Bridges Visitor Center, right after the workday is done.
So, come out and work with us on April 15th. Give back, get a T-shirt and show your support for Natural Bridges and Antonelli Ponds!
