April 28, 2005 Dear Trailworkers, As Mayor of the City of Santa Cruz, I wish to extend the City's appreciation for the tremendous work being accomplished at Moore Creek Preserve. I understand that Trailworkers.com is continuing with the dedicated effort to remove invasive broom from Moore Creek Canyon and the coastal prarie. Both of these habitat areas are significant resources which are being greatly enhanced by Trailworkers.com. The broom removal also has vastly improved the Moore Creek Trail. The city especially appreciates Trailworkers.com's commitment to return to Moore Creek Preserve this year to continue removing invasive broom. Due to the City's financial situation, it would not be possible for the Parks and Recreation Department to accomplish this important project.
